The following are some of the therapy modalities in which our therapists are trained, though this list is not exhaustive. Please ask if you have questions or would like more information on any of the treatment modalities.

Telehealth

CBT

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a therapy modality that focuses on understanding the interaction between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will become aware of irrational or negative thinking patterns and understand and change these thought processes so you can respond to life situations more effectively.

DBT

TF-CBT

  • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a therapy modality used with children specifically to process and work through traumatic experiences. This therapy uses concepts from CBT in helping children replace negative, irrational thinking patterns associated with trauma with a healthy and more effective view on the world. Work with mindfulness, relaxation strategies, cognitive restructuring, parent education, and creating a trauma narrative, are all important components of this process. You can find more information on the efficacy of TF-CBT here.

Family

  • Sometimes it is in your best interest to involve family in treatment. This often includes exploring family roles, communication and relationship patterns, and barriers in your environment. Involving family in the counseling process can be effective in accessing another support and working through other concerns within family dynamics.

Biofeedback

  • Biofeedback is the process of observing changes in your body with the assistance of an electrical device, in our case heart rate monitor. We use a device that tracks your heart rate variability (HRV) while completing a task and practicing deep breathing. Seeing this feedback in real time, helps you to learn to control your breathing and heart rate and achieve relaxation and stress reduction. This is often used when working on relaxation and coping strategies as a supplement to psychotherapy. To learn more about the device we use, click here.
